Phylina's Story

I've been at Barneys for about four years now. Throughout that time I've experienced great friendship and love. I felt this especially after I got sick. In May 2007 I was diagnosed with lymphoma, a blood-related cancer. When the Barneys community heard the news of my illness, help and encouragement flooded in:

  • A couple of senior members of Barneys, both of whom had had cancer, openly shared their experiences with me.
  • My Bible study group provided support and prayer even though some of them were going through an even more difficult time.
  • I had many people coming to me to say they were praying for me, to encourage me and to offer me food and accommodation. Some of these people barely knew me beforehand.
My family is not here in Australia, but Barneys has provided more than I could ask for from a family. Thanks to Barneys, I was not anxious, only grateful and amazed by the many miracles God performed. Not only did he cure my cancer, he also granted my parents a visa to come and visit me. He organised finance for me so I can afford my medication and accommodation.

And now, although I am still suffering from some post-chemo complications, I feel calm and certain that God will look after me. After all he has done for me, how could I not?
