Milestones since the fire

The site on Broadway doesn't betray how much has happened since May 10, 2006. Four years on, much has taken place in the life of the Barneys community and beyond to bring to us to the point of beginning to rebuild. Some of it is represented in the following timeline.

19-20 Aug 2006 Search Conference with over 200 members of Barneys to discuss the path forward
25 Nov 2006 Parish Council resolve to build a new, stand-alone church for 5-600, with other facilities
28 Jun 2007 Parish Council finalises brief of requirements for new Church and launches Design Competition to 5 firms of architects
27 Jul 2007 Design Competition finishes
16 Sep 2007 "Mini" Search Conference with members of Barneys to review possible designs
8 Oct 2007 Parish Council chooses design and appoints FJMT as architects for the Project
27 Dec 2007 Insurance Settlement of almost $7,000,000
31 Mar 2008 Mission Property Committee of the Diocese grant St Barnabas $1,750,000 to pursue the Project
19 Dec 2008 Development Application lodged with Sydney City Council
5 May 2009 Development Consent granted by Sydney City Council
Oct 2009 Tender Issued for Project
4 Feb 2010 Demolition Service
19 Feb 2010 Swinging of the Hammer
7 May 2010 Demolition Complete
Aug 2010 Construction begins
