Barneys Memories

Remember the old kitchen?

Not the one that went up in flames. The really old one, at the Mountain Street end of the hall. Remember the Sunday evening meals, and the rosters for cooking them? Remember the occasions (rare) when there were more people than you’d expected and someone had to whip out to the nearest hamburger joint to feed the extras?

Remember the Bible study groups on Sunday afternoons, which finished in time for those evening meals, which finished in time for a prayer meeting, which finished in time for the evening service? Remember Graham Cocks exhorting us to come and pray?

I was at Barneys from 1968 or 69 to 1999, with the occasional year or two away. I’m now living at Maitland. Retired (kind of) from various entanglements with the English language ~ studying it, teaching it, loving it, scribbling it, helping others to use it.
